Paradise LIVE!
So, to kick off the previous week's semester break, literati Inc. attended a concert at Revival Centre A/G (which is, btw, V's and my church). What better way than to start it off being loud and wild huh?
The band came on the 17th; a Sunday night. It was really awesome. To all those who didn't come, boy you sure missed out on a lot. C'mon, it's Revival Centre's FIRST concert: history IN THE MAKING people! Would've been better than sitting at home, sleeping or staring at the comp screen. That you gotta admit.
To say the least, the whole time was beyond words. We plucked up the courage to go ALL the way to the front, and had a total blast jumping and praising God. There were several songs we hadn't heard of before, but they sounded good anyway.

My sister Ash made my mom get this album for us after the concert, titled Only by Grace. Newest I think, and it has most of the songs they played at the concert. Jaye Liubinskas wrote most of them, and she has an amazing voice. Wish she sang more lead in the album tho. The tracks kind of sound like the whole band's singing... But the songs are good. Some of my preferred ones are God and King, You Reign, I Surrender and You Lord out of a total ten worship infused tracks. It's worth a listen. For those of you who have heard the songs and want to play them, click HERE for the album's chords and lyrics. More to come up soon on literati Inc! Hopefully from V once her authorship's confirmed... MegD! Signing out. Enjoy viewers, and don't forget to SPEAK! ^^

Holes - Louis Sachar
It's my turn, Steph T checking in.. =P Hehehe..
Actually, Megan D's been doing most of the work, and a fantastic job she has done indeed. Don't you think so?
Anyways, this will be the second
review. (We have yet to come up with a better word. LoL)
Holes. Funny title huh? But as the saying goes, do not judge a book by its cover. I got the book this afternoon, from Caryn. A friend who, also got it from the scholastic catalogue. Once I started reading, I just couldn't out it down. It's a bad habit of mine. Well, back to the book, it's about this boy Stanley Yelnats who was convicted of a crime he didn't do. Because of that, he was sent to this Detention Centre called Camp Green Lake. Camp Green Lake is this remote place where nothing is green, the lake has completely dried up and has immensely hot weather. The boys are to dig a hole everyday 5ft wide, 5ft deep. It isn't an easy task. If you're wondering why they have to dig holes, you'll have to read it for yourself. The story ends well, and that's the way I like it. The plot is interesting, going back and forth from the past to the present. I especially like the part where Stanley blames his no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, which is no surprised since it won the Newberry Medal. Oh, and apparently, there's a movie on it too. I have yet to watch it tho. Will definitely get hold of it.
Well, that's it from me, hope this review has been useful. Be prepared for more to come. I hope ;)

numero uno
Megan D checkin in. =)
Here's to the 1st actual post of this blog! This will only be temporary as we will be putting literati Inc.'s blog under a different account once the layout and content are more "stable", as quoted by member Steph T.
The main page should have informed you of this blog's main purpose: reviews.
But reviews is too... formal a word. As I said, this whole thing still needs a lot of work, and Steph T and I are handling it ourselves for now, as V is sporadically preoccupied with college so expecting her to work full time on this as well won't be fair.
Now, the 1st
review (aiyaiyai i really gotta find an alternative word) will be on one of the newest books I bought from the Scholastic catalogue. I must admit I was pretty naive to think we were the only "school" to receive that catalogue. Let alone the selection be based on more Christian standards. -.- Yes, naive indeed. The book is called
21 Proms by David Levithan and Daniel Ehrenhaft. What a mouthful.

This book is basically a collaboration of 21 stories, all to do with prom at some point. There were only a handful of really good ones, such as the 1st, one about "pretending" to be drunk, a father's letter to his daughter, 3 prom dates, etc. And a smattering of gay, eyebrow-raising ones, including a twist on the partner being a um, primate. Then there were a few strange, weird, fence-sitting ones such as a Hawaiian speech sort of poem, getting an unlikely date just for the sake of being normal, and pretend prom at home with a neighbor while having chickenpox. Steph T currently has possession of this book, so I shall add the correct titles of the stories when she returns it. Haha. sounds like a *hint hint* moment.
On the whole, 21 Proms is one of my favorite books now. I'm a fan of David Levithan's collabos, such as PUSH: Stories from the Edge, which I might "review" in a much later post. Still in the making! Hope you readers like this little preview. =)
PostScript. As promised, here are the titles of the better stories in 21 Proms:
You Are A Prom Queen, Dance Dance Dance by Elizabeth Craft
All She Wants by Cecily von Ziegesar
Vodka Veritas by Holly Black
Your Big Night by Sarah Mlynowski
"Mom called, she says you have to go to prom" by Adrienne Maria Vrettos
Better Be Good To Me by Daniel Ehrenhaft
Three Fates by Aimee Friedman
Shutter by Will Leitch
See Me by Lisa Ann Sandell
The Backup Date by Leslie Margolis
The Great American Morp by John Green
And here are the gay ones, for those of you who might be interested...
The Question: A Play In One Act by Brent Hartinger
Primate the Prom by Libba Bray
Lost Sometimes by David Levithan

In the beginning
there was a need to write.
